Former first-class cricketer Tahir Mughal diagnosed with cancer

The 43-year-old is one of the few bowlers in Pakistan history with over 500 scalps in first-class cricket

Former Pakistan first-class cricketer Tahir Mughal has been diagnosed with stage four gallbladder cancer and is currently under treatment.

Pakistan cricketer Rumman Raees shared the news on his official Twitter account.

Mughal, who made his debut in 1997, played 112 first-class matches, claiming 502 wickets at an average of 21.64 along with 39 five-wicket hauls. He also scored 3202 runs with a highest score of 130 not out. The all-rounder also featured in 84 list A matches and 26 T20s.

The 43-year-old is one of the few bowlers in Pakistan history with over 500 scalps in first-class cricket. He was also part of the Sialkot Stallions side which won the domestic T20 competition in 2006.

Mughal was also associated with the Pakistan Super League (PSL) franchise, Lahore Qalandars, in the past during their talent hunt programme.
