Team India is gearing up for the T20 World Cup 2024, which begins on June 2, with high hopes of clinching their first ICC title since 2013. The team's campaign kicks off on June 5 against Ireland in New York.

Key focus will be on star batsmen Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, who are expected to lead the batting lineup. Rohit Sharma, despite the Mumbai Indians' disappointing season, regained form, scoring 417 runs in 14 innings at a strike rate of 150.00, including a century and a half-century.

In contrast, Virat Kohli, despite Royal Challengers Bengaluru's loss in the IPL 2024 Eliminator has amassed 741 runs in 15 matches, boasting a strike rate of 154.69, with one century and five fifties to his name.

Former Indian cricketer Parthiv Patel has expressed confidence in Rohit and Kohli's potential at the T20 World Cup.

I don't think we can write off any players at any point in time. Anyone can get into the side at that given time. I've made a comeback after eight years. You have seen Dinesh Karthik make a comeback after 9 years. So it depends individually on that player," Patel said.

"When we're talking about the category of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli who are the legends of the game, they understand their game really well. They know where they stand. They keep reinventing themselves. We saw what Rohit Sharma did in the 50-over World Cup and now we saw what Virat Kohli did in the IPL, where they keep reinventing themselves," he further added.

It is worth reflecting on their IPL seasons where RCB made an impressive turnaround after a rough start, finishing the league phase with a six-match winning streak before falling to Rajasthan Royals in the Eliminator. Meanwhile, Mumbai Indians had a challenging season, ending at the bottom of the table with just eight points from 14 matches.
