Former Indian cricketer Joginder Sharma has cast doubt on Gautam Gambhir's tenure as head coach of the Indian team.

Gambhir was recently appointed as head coach across all formats until 2027.

While speaking on a YouTube channel, Sharma voiced concerns about Gambhir’s potential longevity in the role.

He noted that Gambhir, known for his direct approach and independent decision-making, might face challenges in maintaining his position.

Sharma highlighted that Gambhir’s straightforward style could lead to conflicts with players, as his decisions might not always align with others' preferences

“Gautam Gambhir is the one to manage the team, but I believe that he will not be able to stay for a long time,” Joginder said.

“This is because Gautam Gambhir has his own decisions. It might happen that he has a disagreement with a player. I am not talking about Virat Kohli. Many times, Gambhir’s decisions are such that others do not like them.”

Despite these reservations, Sharma praised Gambhir for his integrity and dedication, emphasizing that Gambhir is known for his honest and straightforward approach without indulging in flattery.

“Gautam Gambhir speaks directly. He is not someone who will go to anyone. He is not a person who flatters. We are the ones who give him credit. He does his work, does it sincerely, and does it with great honesty,” Joginder concluded.
