Former cricketers from India and Pakistan heaped praise on Abdullah Shafique following Pakistan's impressive seven-wicket victory over Bangladesh in the 50-over World Cup.

Openers Fakhar Zaman (81) and Abdullah Shafique (68) combined in a 128-run stand to set up the victory, as the Men in Green successfully chased 205-run target with 17.3 overs to spare in a major net run-rate boost for them.

Shafique's stellar performance has caught the attention of cricket pundits and former players. In six World Cup innings, he has amassed 332 runs, including a century and three fifties.

Indian commentator Ravi Shastri commended Shafique, describing him as a solid opener with the necessary temperament and technique.

"Abdullah is a solid opener. He has temperament and technique needed for an opener. Abdullah has good footwork and nice swing of the bat with wide range of shots," Shastri said.

Former Indian cricketer Mohammad Kaif expressed his admiration for Shafique on social media.

"Abdullah Shafique knows the art of run-making. He can attack but is never rushed, he can defend but never gets stuck. One player, all formats," Kaif wrote.
