According to Rashid Latif, England, New Zealand, Australia, and South Africa are all capable of challenging the two Asian giants
The Champions Trophy 2025 is just around the corner, and excitement is building for the return of this prestigious tournament after an eight-year break. Co-hosted by Pakistan and the UAE, the event is expected to showcase top-class cricket and fierce competition. With India and Pakistan being the favorites for the title, former Pakistan cricketer Rashid Latif has shared his thoughts on the teams that could pose a challenge to them.
While both India and Pakistan are considered strong contenders for the trophy, Latif has warned against underestimating other teams. According to him, England, New Zealand, Australia, and South Africa are all capable of challenging the two Asian giants.
“I am confident that our players will seize the opportunity to play in home conditions. India is a strong team, but I believe these four teams — England, New Zealand, Australia, and South Africa — could pose a greater challenge," Rashid said.
These four teams have shown strong performances in international cricket, and Latif believes they will bring tough competition in the upcoming tournament.
The Champions Trophy will take place from February 19 to March 9, 2025, with matches hosted in Karachi, Lahore, Rawalpindi, and Dubai. The eight teams are divided into two groups:
- Group A: Pakistan, India, New Zealand, Bangladesh
- Group B: Afghanistan, South Africa, England, Australia
Pakistan will face New Zealand in the tournament opener on February 19 in Karachi. The highly anticipated clash between Pakistan and India is set for February 23 in Dubai.
