Former Pakistan captain Wasim Akram has expressed his displeasure over Abrar Ahmed's celebration after taking the wicket of Indian opener Shubman Gill, during a recent match.
While Akram praised the young spinner for his bowling skills, he was less impressed with the manner in which Ahmed celebrated the wicket.

After dismissing Gill, Ahmed's celebration, which quickly went viral on social media, sparked debate. Akram, known for his calm and composed demeanor on the field, was particularly critical of the timing and nature of the celebration, considering the context of the match.

"I was impressed with his bowling, but not with his celebration," Akram said.

"There's a time and place for everything. If you're winning, fine, celebrate. But when you know the team is struggling and you just got a wicket, be humble, be humble. But that's not happening. No one is there to guide him. It doesn’t even look good on TV," Wasim Akram added.

Akram's comments highlight the need for young cricketers to be calm, especially in challenging situations. While celebrating a wicket is a part of the game, the former fast bowler emphasized that players should be mindful of the match situation and the impact of their actions on the team’s morale.

Batting first, Pakistan, the hosts and defending champions, could only manage 241 runs before being bowled out in the final over against the arch-rivals. In response, India chased down the target comfortably, losing four wickets with 45 balls to spare, thanks to a brilliant century by Virat Kohli.

The defeat marked Pakistan's second loss in as many games, putting them on an early exit from the eight-team tournament.
