Former Pakistan cricketer Atiq-uz-Zaman has expressed disappointment regarding rumours of an alleged altercation between star speedster Shaheen Afridi and Pakistan batting coach Mohammad Yousuf.

The incident reportedly took place during Pakistan's tour of England and Ireland.

Atiq emphasized the importance of respecting senior figures in cricket, especially someone as esteemed as Yousuf.

"If Mohammad Yousuf bhai said that, Shaheen Afridi shouldn't have made the comments he did. I'm not sure if he made them or not, as these are just rumours. If he did, I'm really disappointed because Yousuf Bhai is a bigger name than Shaheen Afridi. So, he got to understand that there is something called respect. If the coach instructs you, you should just put your head down and try not to bowl no-ball in the nets," Atiq said.

According to media reports, Shaheen and Yousuf engaged in a heated exchange after Yousuf pointed out that Afridi was repeatedly overstepping during net practice.

Afridi reportedly responded brusquely, telling Yousuf to "mind his business" and allow him to practice without interruptions.

Afridi's exact words were allegedly, "Let me practice for now and don’t talk in the middle," which ignited a tense confrontation between the two. The situation quickly escalated, prompting team management to intervene.

Afridi was reprimanded for his behaviour and subsequently apologised to Yousuf in front of the entire team, which helped to defuse the tension.
