Former Pakistan spinner Abdur Rehman has been appointed as the new spin bowling coach of the Pakistan cricket team.
Under the leadership of Shan Masood, the national team is currently in Multan, preparing for the first Test of the ICC World Test Championship series against the West Indies, which will begin on January 17.
The national selection committee has announced a 15-member squad for the series against the West Indies, which includes three spinners: Nauman Ali, Abrar Ahmed, and Sajid Khan.
Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has secured the services of Abdur Rehman as the spin bowling coach for the national team. Abdul Rehman, a left-arm spinner, has had a successful career with Pakistan, taking 140 wickets in Test, ODI, and T20 matches between 2006 and 2014. He has joined the team in Multan for the upcoming series.
Originally from Sialkot, the 44-year-old was previously part of the coaching staff for the Pakistan women's cricket team. However, this will be his first experience as a spin bowling coach with the national men's team.
The two-match Test series against the West Indies will commence in Multan, with the first Test scheduled to begin on January 17, followed by the second Test starting on January 25.
