Former Pakistan cricketer Ramiz Raja has expressed strong criticism towards Shadab Khan for his disappointing performance with both bat and ball during Pakistan's recent T20I series loss against England.
The series concluded on Thursday, May 30, with Pakistan facing defeat in the four-match T20I series 2-0.
While speaking on his YouTube channel, Ramiz expressed disappointment in Shadab's role in the team, particularly his batting position at No. 5.
He also suggested that Imad Wasim should be consistently included in all games and recommended considering Saim Ayub for the middle-order position instead of Shadab Khan.
“The middle order was a flop show that led to the lack of runs and we lost the plot. Imad Wasim should be picked in all games. If you have to bench Shadab, do it. You can play Saim Ayub in the middle order because Shadab is not fit at No.5. If a proper batter comes in, it will bring some stability in the middle order,” Raja said.
The former PCB chairman highlighted the management's decision to send Shadab above No. 7 as a questionable move, stating that it led to wasted opportunities.
“Shadab Khan in middle order? What is his role, I don’t get it. At No.5, he is out of touch and out of form. His ideal batting position should be No.7. He tries to play like a slogger,” he concluded.
It is worth noting that Pakistan's journey begins in Dallas, where they will take on co-host USA on June 6, followed by matches against India on June 9 and Canada on June 12 in New York. Their final league match against Ireland is slated for June 16 in Florida.
