Sadiq raised various concerns over Pakistan's performances and claimed that there is a lot of favoritism in the team
Sadiq Mohammad, a former Pakistan Test cricketer, has urged the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to relieve Mohammad Waseem of his duties as their Chief Selector following a turbulent Asia Cup campaign.
With India already crashing out of the tournament, Pakistan barely reached the final of the Asia Cup 2022 against Sri Lanka. However, the Men in Green's disastrous performances saw them lose out on the trophy by 23 runs.
"It is the right time to change the selection committee, especially Mohammad Waseem," Sadiq said while talking to a local media outlet.
Sadiq raised various concerns over Pakistan's performances and claimed that there is a lot of favoritism in the team.
"It seems that Asif and Iftikhar are favourites of our chief selector. They are selected in the team for all away tours although they haven't done well. I think that they should be rested for good," Sadiq said.
He further added that their calibre is not enough for them to be promoted on the international stage.
"These two batsmen are of club standard and they should not be selected even for the domestic regional teams as it will deprive the upcoming deserving youngsters [of being selected]," Sadiq said.
