They said cheering at cricket is unacceptable while the country faces war
The Pakistan Super League (PSL) has been postponed, and the franchise owners have given their full support to the decision.
They stated that it is completely unacceptable to be clapping and cheering at cricket matches while the country is at war situation. As of now, there have been no discussions regarding new dates or venues for the remaining matches.
According to details, the PSL 10 was halted following an Indian drone attack near the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium. Initially, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) announced the relocation of the remaining eight matches to the UAE. However, based on directives from the Prime Minister, the league was indefinitely postponed. Sources confirm that all franchise owners backed this decision. On Thursday, a joint email was sent to the PCB stating that postponing the league was the most appropriate course of action under the circumstances.
Although officials initially preferred moving the league to Dubai, this decision was later reversed. During a meeting, PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi assured foreign players of full security, stating that their mental peace is a top priority. He mentioned the possibility of shifting the event to Karachi, Dubai, or even Qatar. Foreign players had shown willingness to play in the UAE.
Speaking to Cricket Pakistan, a few team owners reiterated that watching cricket and cheering while the country is in a state of war is not appropriate.
They supported the PCB’s decision to postpone the league, calling it the right step. PCB sources added that no decisions have yet been made regarding new dates or venues. Only when the situation improves will a new window be sought to hold the remaining matches.
