After two consecutive defeats against India and Zimbabwe, Pakistan won their first T20 World Cup Super-12 group stage match against the Netherlands by six wickets at the Optus stadium in Perth.

Left-handed batter Fakhar Zaman returned to the team as he was rehabilitating after getting injured in the UAE in the Asia Cup 2022.

Former Indian batter Gautam Gambhir during the commentary in yesterday's game, criticised Babar Azam and said he is a selfish captain.

"In my opinion, first, you think about your team instead of yourself; if nothing goes according to your plan, you should have sent Fakhar Zaman up the batting order. This is called selfishness; as a captain, it is easy to be selfish. It is easy for Babar and Rizwan to open the innings for Pakistan and create so many records. If you want to be a leader, you have to think about your team."

The Indian player said that there had been many captains, but leaders have been few. He added that the match against the Netherlands allowed Babar Azam to set an example and allow Fakhar Zaman to open instead of himself.

Many cricket players like Wasim Akram, Shoaib Akhtar, and Mohammad Hafeez criticised Babar Azam's bad captaincy and urged the skipper to bat at the middle order spot.
