Gerald Coetzee was fined 50% of his match fee and received a demerit point for showing dissent during the fourth T20I against India in Johannesburg
South Africa fast bowler Gerald Coetzee and two other cricketers, Netherlands captain Scott Edwards and Oman seamer Sufyan Mehmood, have been fined for breaching the ICC Code of Conduct during recent matches.
Gerald Coetzee was fined 50% of his match fee and received a demerit point for showing dissent during the fourth T20I against India in Johannesburg. In the 15th over of India's innings, Coetzee made an inappropriate comment to the umpire after a wide was called. The bowler admitted his actions and accepted the punishment, which also included an official reprimand. India won the game and sealed the series 3-1.
Scott Edwards, the Netherlands captain, was fined 10% of his match fee and given two demerit points during the third T20I against Oman in Al Amerat. The first offence occurred when he showed his bat to the umpire after being given out lbw. His second offence happened when he threw his bat and gloves on the field while walking back to the dugout.
Oman bowler Sufyan Mehmood received a 10% match fee fine and one demerit point for giving a send-off to Netherlands batter Teja Nidamanuru in the same match.
Both Edwards and Mehmood admitted their offences, avoiding the need for a formal hearing.
The Netherlands went on to win the match and secure the series 2-1.
