Google's vibrant doodle kicked off the start of the T20 World Cup 2024 on Sunday, marking the tournament's exciting commencement.

This edition of the T20 tournament, jointly hosted by the United States and the West Indies, marks its ninth iteration, underscoring its growing significance in the world of cricket.

The colourful doodle serves as a vibrant reminder of the excitement and anticipation surrounding the tournament, capturing the attention of cricket enthusiasts worldwide and igniting enthusiasm for the forthcoming matches.

Featuring 20 teams comprising the finest cricket talent from across the globe, the tournament promises fierce competition and dazzling displays of skill from every participant.

The teams have been divided into four groups - A, B, C, and D - with the top two teams from each group advancing to the Super Eight round. Subsequently, the Super Eight stage will see further battles as teams vie for a spot in the semifinals.

Google CEO Sundar Pichai expressed his enthusiasm for the tournament, emphasizing the growth of cricket globally and celebrating its recognition through the Google Doodle.

In a post on X, Pichai shared his excitement, stating, “More teams than ever will participate in the ICC Men’s T20 Cricket World Cup this year. Exciting to see my favorite sport growing globally – and celebrated in today’s #Doodle. First toss is in a few hours – good luck to all the teams.”
