With the IPL 2025 mega auction fast approaching, Gujarat Titans (GT) have subtly confirmed that two of their key players, Shubman Gill and Rashid Khan, will be retained. The IPL governing council has set the deadline for team retentions as October 31st, and GT has already hinted at their decisions with a recent social media post.

In a tweet, Gujarat Titans shared a picture of both Shubman Gill and Rashid Khan, captioned "All over the opponents like a Shub-Rash," indicating their intention to keep these two stars for the upcoming season. This confirmation seems to end speculation around their retention.

There had been reports suggesting that Gill might enter the auction, especially after some challenges during his captaincy stint last year. Additionally, there were rumors linking Rashid Khan with a possible move to Mumbai Indians, as he has been involved with MI in other leagues, such as MI Emirates, MI Cape Town, and MI New York. However, with GT’s recent post, it looks like both players will continue to play a major role for the franchise.

Gill and Rashid have been instrumental in Gujarat Titans' success. Gill has consistently been among the top batters for the team, scoring 483 runs in his debut season with GT and a stunning 890 runs in 2023. Last season, he added another 426 runs to his tally.

Rashid Khan, the ace leg-spinner from Afghanistan, has taken 56 wickets in 45 matches for Gujarat Titans, including a hat-trick and his best figures of 4/24. Besides his bowling, Rashid has also contributed with the bat when needed, making him a vital all-rounder for the team.

With both players confirmed to stay, Gujarat Titans will be hoping to build on their past success, which includes winning the IPL title in 2022 and finishing as runners-up the following year. The team will now focus on finalizing the rest of their squad ahead of the mega auction set for November.
