Saim Ayub was the second-highest run-scorer with 478 runs in 13 innings, averaging 43.45 and boasting a striking rate of 142.26
England's Moeen Ali is set to join the Guyana Amazon Warriors for the upcoming remaining Caribbean Premier League (CPL) 2024 matches.
Ali will replace Pakistan's opening batter Saim Ayub, who was unavailable for the tournament due to his involvement with the national team in the recently concluded Test series against Bangladesh.
Ayub's impact last season was substantial; he was the second-highest run-scorer with 478 runs in 13 innings, averaging 43.45 and boasting a striking rate of 142.26. His 28 sixes were the highest in CPL 2023, showcasing his explosive batting prowess.
However, Ayub’s participation in CPL 2024 is hampered by a scheduling clash with Pakistan's two-match Test series against Bangladesh and the Champions One-Day Cup, Pakistan's new domestic 50-over competition. Ayub is set to represent the Panthers in the latter tournament.
Moeen Ali's availability for the Amazon Warriors depends on the progression of Birmingham Bears in the T20 Blast. If the Bears advance past Gloucestershire in the quarter-finals on Friday, they will secure a spot in the Finals Day on September 14, which could affect Moeen’s participation in CPL.
In addition, New Zealand's Tim Robinson has been selected as a temporary replacement for Moeen Ali. Robinson will serve as an interim replacement for Rahmanullah Gurbaz, who will depart for international duties with Afghanistan.
