Pakistan wicket-keeper batsman, Mohammad Rizwan, shed light on the dynamic nature of cricket playing conditions and emphasized the importance of match practice over net sessions.
In a media conference following Pakistan's recent match against the Netherlands, Rizwan also revealed that he sought advice from former cricketer Saeed Anwar to prepare for the distinctive challenges posed by Indian pitches.
The right-hand batter acknowledged the unpredictable nature of playing conditions in cricket, underscoring that pitches can manifest varying behaviors even within the course of a single match.
He stressed the necessity for players to remain prepared for all eventualities in such conditions, emphasizing that match practice offers invaluable experience that differs significantly from mere net sessions.
"The playing conditions in cricket can be unpredictable, even within the course of a single match. Pitches may behave differently over time, so one must be prepared for all possibilities. Match practice is invaluable and distinct from net sessions," he said.
"To prepare for Indian conditions, I had a conversation with Saeed Anwar before arriving here. He emphasized the need to adapt to India's unique conditions. While Indian pitches are generally good, they can exhibit varying behaviors in a short span. Preparing for India is distinct from preparing for a tour to Australia, for example," he added.
