Former cricketers and technical committee members Misbah-ul-Haq and Mohammad Hafeez highlighted the shortcomings exhibited by the Pakistan team during the Asia Cup in a special meeting held at the National Cricket Academy on Wednesday in Lahore.

However, according to a tweet by a sports journalist, Misbah and Hafeez raised objections regarding the selection committee's picks for the World Cup squad. The duo reportedly questioned the rationale behind certain player selections and suggested including Sarfaraz Ahmed instead of Mohammad Haris.

Hafeez, feeling misrepresented, took to his social media platform 'X' to express his discontent with the situation. He called out the journalist, labeling the news as fabricated and expressing his disappointment over being mentioned in such a misleading manner.

However, tweets were later deleted by both parties.

Meanwhile, Mohammad Amir came in support of the aforementioned journalist and took an indirect dig at Hafeez.

โ€œBrother, you are doing a great job. Keep supporting team Pakistan. If someone changes their statement, it is their fault, not your fault,โ€™โ€™ Amir wrote on X.

It is worth noting that during the meeting, a comprehensive evaluation of Pakistan's performance in the recently concluded 2023 Asia Cup was transpired.

The discussion encompassed an analysis of the team's weaknesses during the Asia Cup and strategic considerations for the upcoming World Cup. Most importantly, the World Cup squad announcement is expected to be made by the end of the week.
