Sargodha-born all-rounder questioned the authenticity of the rivalry
Qalandars all-rounder Mohammad Hafeez took a tacit dig at Karachi and Lahore rivalry ahead of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) season five between the two sides on Tuesday evening at National Stadium, Karachi.
This is the first time these two sides are featuring in a PSL final. Lahore and Karachi share a historic rivalry in Pakistan cricket, which is why the fans are eagerly anticipating a mouth-watering clash in the final.
However, a Twitter user pointed out that both teams do not have a player in their side that actually belongs to the city these franchises represent. It is interesting to note that Karachi Kings premier batsman Babar Azam was also actually born in Lahore.

Replying to aforementioned tweet, Sargodha-born Hafeez questioned the authenticity of the rivalry in his tweet.
“Aqalmand ko ishara kafi hai (A wise person just needs a hint), Lahore Karachi rivalry?” Hafeez tweeted.

Qalandars brushed aside Peshawar Zalmi by five wickets in the Eliminator 1 on the back of an unbeaten 74 by Hafeez after which David Wiese’s all-round exploits helped the side, who had finished at the bottom of the table in each of the first four seasons, seal a berth in the final with a convincing 25-run win over Sultans in Eliminator 2.
