Pakistan batter, Haider Ali's, played his last match for Derbyshire as he's been selected to represent the national side in the upcoming T20 Asian Games cricket tournament.

The 22-year-old was signed for the entire 2023 season of the County Championship but will remain absent for Derbyshire's four remaining matches scheduled for next month.

During his time with the club, he impressively contributed over 1,000 runs across all three formats of the game.

"Haider has been brilliant in the dressing room; he's matured as a person," said head coach Mickey Arthur.

"The Haider Ali who leaves Derbyshire is better than the one who arrived.

"This is a chance for Haider to go and play on another big stage for his country and perform; it will be an important step in his development."

In his last appearance for Derbyshire, Haider scored 24 runs during a One-Day Cup match against Somerset this past Tuesday.

His most notable performance was when he achieved a remarkable 146 runs against Yorkshire in Chesterfield.

Notably, the upcoming Asian Games in Hangzhou, China, mark the return of Twenty20 cricket to the list of sports, marking its inclusion for the first time since 2014.
