Former Indian cricketer Harbhajan Singh has landed in controversy after making a comment about England’s fast bowler Jofra Archer during an IPL 2025 match.

The incident happened on Sunday during the game between Rajasthan Royals (RR) and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) when Harbhajan, who was on commentary, compared Archer to a "black taxi" in London.

His remark came in the 18th over of the first innings when Archer was bowling to Ishan Kishan and Heinrich Klaasen. After Klaasen hit two consecutive boundaries, Harbhajan said, “London me kaali taxi ka meter tez bhaagta hai, Aur yaha pe Archer sahab ka meter bhi tez bhaaga hai” (Like the meter of London’s black taxis, Archer’s meter has also been on the higher side).

The comment quickly sparked outrage on social media, with many fans calling it racist and demanding Harbhajan’s removal from the IPL commentary panel.

Critics slammed the former spinner for his choice of words, with some insisting he should be banned from IPL broadcasts. As the controversy grows, the BCCI and IPL officials are yet to comment on the matter.
