Pacer’s throat-slitting gesture celebrations in his last match had sparked outrage among fans
Pakistan's fast-bowler Haris Rauf, who grabbed headlines with his hat-trick against Sydney Thunder on Wednesday, mesmerised fans with his searing pace and new wicket-taking celebrations.
Last week, Rauf’s throat-slitting gesture celebrations in the ongoing Big Bash League (BBL) had sparked outrage among fans, which led to and apology from the pacer.

However, the controversy didn’t tame Rauf’s excitement after taking a wicket, as he made a new gesture, commonly referred to as ‘Adaab’ in Pakistan, during his celebrations today.

Haris Rauf with a trenchant critique of Bollywood's insistence on showing all Pakistanis as saying adaab. His own identity as another Pakistani stereotype, the came-out-of-nowhere-fast-bowling-phenom adds a further layer of irony. Art. https://t.co/A4OnJ75F1J

If Rauf’s celebrations were not enough to amuse the fans, they were taken by another surprise as one of the pacer’s delivery clocked at an impressive 151.3 km/h.
