Pakistan fast bowler Haris Rauf, who recently faced criticism from Chief Selector Wahab Riaz for opting out of Test cricket, is reportedly disturbed by the unfair comments directed towards him.

The 30-year-old, who debuted internationally four years ago, is currently in Karachi for the National T20 Championship but is rather focused on preparing mentally, physically, and in terms of form to re-enter Test cricket.

Family sources revealed that Rauf is upset with the unwarranted criticism he received during the World Cup campaign. Even those with limited knowledge of the sport are questioning his form and wicket-taking performance in the World Cup matches.

“Look, Haris is upset with those who have unleashed undue criticism on the pacers during the World Cup campaign. Even those who hardly know anything are criticising his form and raising questions about his not picking wickets regularly during World Cup matches,” said a close family source.

Previously chief selector Wahab Riaz, in a press conference, stated that Rauf initially assured the cricket board of his availability for Test cricket but withdrew at the last moment, contradicting reports that Rauf never agreed to play the longer format, citing concerns about his fitness.

Rauf, who made his international debut in January 2020, has played only nine First-Class matches and one Test match against England in December 2022. During the England Test, he bowled only 13 overs in one innings before leaving the field due to a fitness issue. Despite the recent controversy, Rauf remains determined to return to Test cricket and is committed to getting in optimal mental and physical shape.
