Harry Brook has been appointed as the captain of Northern Superchargers for this year's men's Hundred tournament, marking his return to leadership since his days with the England Under-19 team. He takes over from Wayne Parnell and sees this opportunity as a significant step towards his ambitions, potentially leading him to succeed Jos Buttler as England's white-ball captain.

Brook previously captained the England Under-19 team during the World Cup in New Zealand in 2018. His impressive performance in a recent Hundred match, where he scored an unbeaten 102 runs from just 42 balls for Superchargers against Welsh Fire at Headingley, strengthened his case for leadership.

"It's an honour to captain Northern Superchargers, and I'm really excited for it," Brook said. "It's always special to play at Headingley and to represent the area, and to do that as captain in the Hundred this year will be extra special."

Andrew Flintoff, who has been assisting the England white-ball team, played a pivotal role in Brook's appointment as the head coach of Superchargers. The team boasts stars like Ben Stokes, Nicholas Pooran from the West Indies, and Brook's former teammates Adil Rashid and Reece Topley from recent World Cup campaigns. They recently acquired Jason Roy following Brydon Carse's suspension.

"I really like the look of the squad we've formed, and I think there's a lot to be excited about," Brook said. "I can't wait to work with Freddie and the rest of the group and hopefully it'll be a year to remember."

In the women's team, Hollie Armitage will continue as captain under head coach Dani Hazell, aiming to build on their runner-up finish in the 2023 campaign to Southern Brave.
