Renowned commentator Harsha Bhogle has reacted on the recent statement made by Gary Kirsten following Pakistan's exit from the T20 World Cup 2024 currently being co-hosted by the USA and West Indies.

Bhogle took to the social media platform 'X' where he shared his thoughts on the incident, emphasizing its significance as a learning experience for Kirsten.

"When a private conversation within a dressing room is leaked, with a few embellishments I am sure, it exposes the insecurity within," Bhogle posted.

"It will be a learning curve for Gary Kirsten but he is a good man and Pakistan will do well to seek the benefits of his knowledge. When he was with India, he was surrounded by some tough people but also players of impeccable character. It created a fabulous combo," he added.

According to a local media report, Kirsten addressed the Pakistan team frankly after their exit from the ongoing T20 World Cup 2024, expressing concerns over the players' fitness levels not meeting expectations.

The report further quoted him saying that the team lags significantly in skill compared to international standards, noting a lack of clarity in shot selection despite extensive match experience.

Kirsten also highlighted a glaring absence of unity within the team since his tenure began, observing a lack of mutual support among players unlike any he's encountered in his career. He unequivocally stated that players who demonstrate improvements in these areas will earn their place in the team, while those who do not will face exclusion.
