He noted that England's lineup closely resembled their probable XI for the upcoming T20 World Cup 2024
Cricket commentator Harsha Bhogle shared his thoughts after England's win over Pakistan in the second T20I at Edgbaston, Birmingham, on Saturday.
He noted that England's lineup closely resembled their probable XI for the upcoming T20 World Cup 2024.
"England have played what is likely to be their first eleven at the ICC T20 World Cup. Or maybe [Sam] Curran for [Liam] Livingstone from this team. But the big observation today was that [Jofra] Archer looks ready and that is a big boost," he posted on X, formerly Twitter.
Jos Buttler led with an 84-run innings off 51 balls, including eight fours and three sixes, forming a 71-run partnership with Will Jacks. England aimed for a massive total but were curtailed by Pakistani bowlers Haris Rauf, Imad, and Shaheen. Jacks scored 37 off 23 balls, and Jonny Bairstow added 21, while Harry Brook, Moeen Ali, and Liam Livingstone struggled.
Jofra Archer's 12 runs in the final over pushed England to 183/7. Pakistan's Shaheen took three wickets, with Imad and Rauf picking two each.
In reply, Fakhar Zaman scored 45 off 21 balls, while Babar Azam added 32 off 26. Despite contributions from Iftikhar Ahmed (23 off 17) and Imad Wasim (22 off 13), Pakistan fell short. For England, Reece Topley took three wickets, with Moeen Ali and Archer taking two each, and Chris Jordan, Adil Rashid, and Livingstone each claiming one.
