The Habib Bank Limited (HBL) Pakistan Super League (PSL) franchise Peshawar Zalmi has appointed legendary South Africa batsman Hashim Amla as the team’s batting mentor.

Amla has already announced his retirement from international cricket. He hit 55 international centuries, including South Africa's highest Test score when he struck 311 not out against England at The Oval in 2012.

An elegant right-handed top-order batsman, Amla hit 9,282 runs at an average of 46.64 in 124 Test matches and 8,113 at 49.46 in 181 one-day internationals.

He hit 28 centuries in Tests and 27 in ODIs. His Test tally included four double centuries.

“A very wholehearted Pakhair Raghlay [welcome] to the legendary player in the  Yellow Storm Brigade as a Batting Mentor. His Gracious Presence in the PSL5 festivity will not only adorn the Zalmi Dugout but will also inspire and craft the cricket skills of the emerging players in the squad,” Zalmi owner Javed Afridi said in a tweet.

All 34 matches of PSL5 are set to be played across four international venues of the country, Karachi, Lahore, Multan and Rawalpindi, from February 20 to March 22.
