The Pakistan Super League (PSL) has set new live viewership records during its 10th edition, registering a 826.5% increase in Pakistan compared to the same period last year.

The rise came despite the league running alongside the Indian Premier League (IPL) for the first time, a period when most cricket boards avoid scheduling tournaments.

This year, the HBL PSL was shifted from its usual February-March window due to Pakistan’s hosting of the ICC Champions Trophy, leading organisers to stage the event in April against the IPL.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) brought in top international and local cricketers to enhance the tournament’s appeal and attract audiences.

The opening match of the season included a ceremony that began with children dressed in white and green suits, singing Pakistan’s national anthem as franchise owners gathered on stage alongside the HBL PSL trophy.

The event then moved into a soulful display of Sufism, with renowned artist Abida Parveen delivering a captivating performance, accompanied by dancers performing traditional moves.

The tournament's opening match was held at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium, where Islamabad United defeated Lahore Qalandars by eight wickets.
