Peshawar Zalmi captain Wahab Riaz and Head Coach Daren Sammy have, reportedly, breached the bio-secure protocols set by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) for the HBL Pakistan Super League (PSL) season six.

According to sources, Riaz and Sammy came into contact with a team official outside the bio-secure bubble on Friday.

“The two individuals will now require two negative tests during the three-day quarantine period before they can re-enter the bio-secure bubble in accordance with the re-entry protocols,” the PCB said, earlier, in a statement without revealing the names of Sammy and Riaz.

The three-day quarantine will mean that Riaz will miss Zalmi’s first match of the tournament, against Lahore Qalandars, on February 21 at the National Stadium in Karachi.

Meanwhile, a player from another franchise, who has tested positive, will be unable to take part in the tournament before returning two negative tests and completing 10-day quarantine. However, the rest of the squad is cleared to play the event as the player did not get into contact with the other members of the team.

PCB has also postponed the pre-tournament photo shoot, involving the six teams’ captains, after the aforementioned incident.
