All players participating in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) season seven have received 70 per cent of the salaries.
The remaining 30 per cent will be paid within six weeks after the end of the competition.
PCB paid salaries yesterday via cheque. The locals were paid in rupees while foreign cricketers were paid in dollars out of which the tax amount was deducted.
PCB source opined that HBL PSL has set its own standards from the beginning as they never delay salaries. "In case of delaying salaries, this not only tarnishes the image of the event but also the country," PCB source said.
"When players inform each other about this, it is difficult to approach the big names later, that is why we have created such an integrated system," he added
On the other hand, a cricketer who was happy to receive the cheque said that in the past players used to get salaries just after the start of the event but this time they received after several days. "We are happy that there was not much delay."
Remember, PCB has taken the responsibility of distributing salaries to the players since the start of the HBL PSL. After the end of every edition, the money is withdrawn from the franchises from the Central Revenue Pool.
Players playing Bangladesh and Sri Lankan T20 League have complained about delays in salaries due to the franchises being given the option to pay directly. So, the PCB has taken the onus on themselves in HBL PSL.
It must be noted that the second leg of HBL PSL 7 is going on in Lahore. 17 out of 34 matches have been played. Multan Sultans and Lahore Qalandars occupy the first two spots at the points table.
