The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has officially announced the 15-member squad for the Pakistan Men's team set to compete in the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup 2024, co-hosted by the West Indies and USA.

Notably, the squad sees the return of Mohammad Amir and Imad Wasim, who recently ended their retirements to rejoin the national team.

Among the squad, led by Babar Azam, five players will be making their debut in the T20 World Cup arena. Abrar Ahmed, Azam Khan, Mohammad Abbas Afridi, Saim Ayub, and Usman Khan are set to embark on their maiden World Cup journey, bringing fresh talent to the team.

Conversely, the selection committee has made some surprising exclusions, omitting eight players who were part of Pakistan's squad for the 2022 edition of the tournament.

1. Shan Masood, the current Test captain of Pakistan, finds himself left out despite being the joint highest run-scorer for the Men in Green in the previous edition, accumulating 175 runs in 7 matches.

2. Asif Ali, known for his powerful striking, has been sidelined despite limited opportunities in the 2022 T20 World Cup, featuring in just one match and scoring a solitary run.

3. Haider Ali, although lacking chances in the 2022 T20 World Cup, failed to impress in the limited opportunities he received, managing just 2 runs from a couple of appearances.

4. Khushdil Shah, despite not getting any chance in the 2022 T20 World Cup, has been overlooked, even after featuring in the warm-up fixture against England.

5. Mohammad Nawaz, another all-rounder, had a disappointing outing in the 2022 T20 World Cup, mustering only three wickets and 68 runs from 7 matches and 5 innings, respectively.

6. Wicketkeeper-batter Mohammad Haris, who struggled to make an impact in the previous edition, averaging just 24.25 after scoring 97 runs in 4 games, has been left out of the squad. However he played an integral role in the match against South Africa scoring crucial 28 runs off 11 deliveries.

7. Pace bowler Mohammad Hasnain, like Khushdil, didn't get an opportunity to showcase his skills in the previous edition and hasn't been included in the current squad.

8. Despite a commendable performance in the 2022 T20 World Cup, pace bowler Mohammad Wasim Jr failed to secure his spot in the 2024 squad, having taken 8 wickets in 6 matches.
