Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) triumphed over Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) by eight wickets to secure the 2024 Indian Premier League (IPL) title in Chennai.

Kolkata's bowlers dismantled Hyderabad's lineup, dismissing them for a record low of 113 in an IPL final. Australia's left-arm fast bowler, Mitchell Starc, led the attack with impressive figures of 2-14. Starc's form was pivotal throughout the tournament, highlighted by a match-winning 3-34 in the first Qualifier against SRH.

The chase was straightforward for Kolkata despite losing Sunil Narine early. Rahmanullah Gurbaz, who contributed 39 runs, and Venkatesh Iyer, who remained unbeaten on 52, built a solid partnership of 91 runs. Iyer's quickfire fifty came off just 24 balls, and he hit the winning runs, sparking jubilant celebrations. Captain Shreyas Iyer was also not out at the end, scoring six.

At the post-match awards ceremony, several players were recognized for their exceptional performances throughout the season. Sunil Narine of KKR was named the Most Valuable Player of the tournament. Virat Kohli of Royal Challengers Bengaluru won the Orange Cap for being the top run-scorer, while the Purple Cap for the leading wicket-taker went to Harshal Patel from Punjab Kings.

Nitish Reddy of SRH was honored as the Emerging Player of the Season. Delhi Capitals' Jake Fraser-McGurk was awarded Best Striker of the Season. Abhishek Sharma from SRH took home the Super Sixes award, and his teammate Travis Head won Most Fours of the Season. The Best Catch of the Season accolade went to Ramandeep Singh of KKR. SRH also received the Fairplay Team Award, and the Hyderabad Cricket Association was recognized for the Best Ground and Pitch.

Kolkata Knight Riders' emphatic victory not only secured them the coveted IPL title but also underscored their dominance in the league with standout performances from both their bowlers and batsmen.
