Many Australian cricketers were on the fence when it came to visit Pakistan for a three-match Test and ODI series with an additional one-off T20I match.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) made all the necessary security arrangements to ensure that the tour go ahead securely.

However, still, some players were not keen. Seeing their hesitation, former Australian all-rounder Shane Watson stepped in.

It is worth mentioning that Shane Watson travelled to Pakistan as he was part of the Quetta Gladiators' squad in the HBL Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2020.

Watson conveyed a positive image of Pakistan and shared his experience with the players, according to Todd Greenberg.

"Watson provided great context, clarity and confidence for that tour and spoke to a number of the players. And we’ve had individual conversations with not just players, but their families, and we’ve taken them on a long journey with lots of information," Greenberg said.

Shane Watson has remained vocal about the hospitality he was shown in Pakistan during his time here.

"The more information you can share the better informed they are, the better decisions they can make. This is why that anxiety has turned to excitement because they are genuinely excited to be here. There’s a generation of Australian cricketers that have missed the opportunity to play Test cricket in Pakistan," he added.
