The ICC Men’s T20 World Cup is gearing up for its ninth edition, starting on June 2nd. This time around, a whopping twenty teams are in the mix, promising an exciting competition.

The action begins with a face-off between hosts USA and Canada at the Grand Prairie Stadium in Dallas, marking the tournament's opening match. The tournament will conclude with the final match on June 29th in Bridgetown, Barbados.

While big names like England, Pakistan, and India snagged direct entry based on their past performances, others had to earn their spot through regional tournaments. Teams like Canada, Ireland, and Namibia fought hard and won their qualifiers to join the fray.

ICC T20 World cup 2024 format:
The format of the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 has been designed to ensure a fair and competitive playing field for all twenty teams. The 20 teams have been divided into four groups of five teams each. Every team faces off against the others in their group once during the league stage. The top two from each group move on to the Super Eight stage.

In the Super Eight stage, the remaining sixteen teams split into two groups, setting the stage for intense battles to secure a spot in the semi-finals. From there, it's a sprint to the final match, with the winners of the semis advancing.

Tied and washed-out matches:
But what happens if games end in ties or are disrupted by rain? In tied matches, teams compete in a Super Over to decide the winner, with extra overs if needed. Rain-interrupted matches must reach a minimum number of overs per inning to decide a winner.

To deal with potential rain delays during crucial matches, extra time and a reserve day are allocated for the first semi-final and the final. However, due to time constraints, the second semi-final won’t have a reserve day.
