Bangladesh pacer Shoriful Islam was ruled out of the ongoing second Test against Pakistan in Rawalpindi due to a groin injury.
The left-arm quick, who played in the first Test, reported discomfort in his groin area, which was later confirmed to be a Grade 1 left adductor strain following an MRI scan.
The injury has sidelined Shoriful, with the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) confirming his absence in a statement.
"Bangladesh pacer Shoriful Islam has a groin strain and could not be considered for selection in the second Test against Pakistan which got underway in Rawalpindi today( Saturday). The left-arm pacer had complained of discomfort in the groin area after the first match and subsequent tests confirmed the injury," BCB said in a statement
With Shoriful unavailable, Bangladesh skipper Najmul Hossain Shanto had to adjust the team's bowling lineup.
After winning the toss on Day 2 of the match in Rawalpindi, Shanto confirmed that Taskin Ahmed has been included in the playing eleven as Shoriful's replacement.
Bangladesh currently leads the two-match Test series 1-0 after winning the historic first-Test against Pakistan.
