Pakistan players have dropped the most number of catches during the ongoing 2019 International Cricket Council (ICC) World Cup which has significantly impacted their quest for a semi-final slot.

The sub-continent side has grassed 14 catches in total which is the most by any team in the mega event. Six catches were dropped in the encounter against South Africa alone, on Sunday.

England are second in the list with 12 dropped catches against their name. Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and Afghanistan have been comparatively better in the fielding department throughout the World Cup with four, three and two dropped catches respectively.

India have been nearly perfect in the field with just one dropped catch in the entire tournament. It should be noted that their only dropped catch occurred against Pakistan — but that too at a stage when India were cruising to victory.

A renewed focus on fitness leading up to the World Cup promised a better fielding display from the Men in Green. However Pakistan’s Achilles heel, fielding, has significantly hurt their chances in the early stages of the tournament.

Pakistan have to win their three remaining matches in order to have a chance at qualifying for the semi-final stage.
