Former Pakistan Cricket Board chief Ramiz Raja has sparked controversy with a comment directed at Pakistan Test captain Shan Masood following the team’s impressive 2-1 series win over England.

In an interview on Saturday, October 26, Raja sarcastically questioned Masood's record, reminding him of the six consecutive Test losses he endured as skipper, which set an unusual low for Pakistan cricket.

The exchange occurred during post-match discussions after Pakistan clinched their first home series win since 2021, defeating England 2-1.

Raja’s taunt, “How did you achieve six losses in a row?” appeared to catch Masood off guard.

However, Masood responded calmly, saying, “Ramiz bhai, we needed this win, the nation needed this win, and I’m really happy that Pakistan won.” The moment quickly drew reactions from fans who criticized Raja’s tone, calling it disrespectful toward the captain and unsupportive of Pakistan's victory.

The series finale saw spinners Noman Ali and Sajid Khan dismantle England's batting lineup within three days, securing a nine-wicket victory. Ali, 38, and Khan, 31, proved crucial by taking 19 of the 20 English wickets on a turning pitch, which had previously helped Pakistan level the series. The collapse saw England dismissed for just 112, their lowest Test innings score in Pakistan since 1987 when they were bowled out for 130 in Lahore.

Pakistan's second innings chase was brief yet thrilling. After securing a 77-run first innings lead, they reached 37-1 before lunch, with Masood (23*) sealing the win with a powerful six over long-off. His aggressive finish, highlighted by four consecutive boundaries against Jack Leach, underscored a triumphant end to his recent struggles as captain, delivering Pakistan a long-awaited home series win.
