Pakistan batter Umar Akmal recently revealed that he does not want his son to become a cricketer due to the alleged injustices his family has faced in the past.

In a video circulating on social media, the visibly emotional middle-order batter was seen training in the nets with his son, who, according to Akmal, aspires to follow in his footsteps and pursue a career in cricket.

Despite his son’s desire to become a cricketer, Akmal expressed concerns about the challenges his family has faced, which led him to discourage his son from taking up the sport.

“He is my son and he is very passionate about cricket but if I share my honest opinion; I don’t want him to play cricket as you know it is Pakistan,” said Akmal.

The right-handed batter then made a heartfelt request to his fans, asking them to pray for his son's success in life, regardless of his cricketing aspirations.

"Kindly pray for him to succeed, and if the Pakistan Cricket Board wants, then he can play," Akmal concluded.

For those unaware, Umar Akmal’s last appearance for Pakistan came in 2019, during a three-match home series against Sri Lanka.
