Pakistan pacer Haris Rauf, in a teleconference on Thursday, expressed his desire to represent Pakistan in Test cricket during their upcoming tour of England.

Rauf, who made his Twenty20 International (T20I) debut against Bangladesh in January this year, has played in two seasons of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) and was one of the best performers for Melbourne Stars, in Big Bash League (BBL) season nine, with 20 wickets to his credit.

The young pacer was named in the 29-member squad announced by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) for the aforementioned tour. Pakistan is scheduled to take on the home side in three Tests and three Twenty20 Internationals (T20Is), which will be played in August-September.

"I have made up mind that I have to play Tests in England at any cost. Whenever my team will need me, I will try to give my 100 per cent. I am mentally prepared and excited to play Test cricket," said Rauf.

"Conditions in England are favourable for fast-bowlers and I will try to make full use of them. I have belief in my skills and will try not to get overconfident," he added.

The 26-year-old is relishing the opportunity to hone his skills by working with legendary pacer and Pakistan’s current bowling coach, Waqar Younis.

"Waqar bhai was an expert in using the crease to deliver the ball with different angles. I am also learning to bowl the reverse swinging yorker with good level of control from him," he said.

"We also have some experienced bowlers in our squad and I will try to learn from them as well," he concluded.
