Akram expressed his deep frustration and embarrassment at Pakistan's performance
Pakistan cricket has plunged into crisis following its first-ever Test series defeat against Bangladesh, marking a low point in a series of dismal performances.
In a shocking turn of events, Bangladesh achieved a historic 2-0 series sweep with a six-wicket victory in the second Test held in Rawalpindi on Tuesday.
This defeat adds to Pakistan's troubling record of ten consecutive winless home Tests and compounds the team's recent struggles.
The blow is a further disappointment after Pakistan's failure to advance past the group stages in both the 50-over and T20 World Cups over the past year.
The series loss to Bangladesh, coupled with recent setbacks against Afghanistan and the USA in limited-overs formats, has left the cricketing nation grappling with a crisis of confidence.
Former Pakistan legendary pacer Wasim Akram has reacted after the national team's disappointing Test series against Bangladesh.
"It's a huge setback and our cricket is at a crossroads," Akram said.
Akram, who has an illustrious career with 104 Tests and 356 one-day internationals, expressed his deep frustration and embarrassment at Pakistan's performance.
"For a former player and captain, and a lover of the game, I was left embarrassed at the way they have lost from good positions. I simply don't get it," he said.
"We are losing consistently on home turf, and that says a lot about the quality of our cricket," he concluded.
It is worth noting that Pakistan's next Test series is against England, with both teams scheduled to play three Test matches starting in October.
