Will the match take place? How much is the chance of rain?

These have been the most asked questions on social media, in the past couple of days. After the washout match against Sri Lanka, everyone was praying that it should not happen again in match against Australia.

When I woke up on Wednesday morning and looked outside from my room’s window, I breathed a sigh of relief as there was no rain.

Several hours before match, when I reached at the County Ground in Taunton, there were quite a few Pakistanis present at the venue. Gradually the quantity of spectators increased, in which 90% of them were Pakistanis who came to watch match from faraway. It felt as some fancy dance party was going on as hundreds of people were in different costumes. Fans of Mohammad Amir were most in number who raised slogans ‘Amir Amir’ before each delivery bowled by him; and, the pacer did not disappoint them with his memorable spell of bowling. However the overall performance of Pakistani team was not satisfactory.

Although I saw another PCB official at the lunch time, which I asked about when he had arrived in England, he replied that he came only few days back. Considering the number of PCB officials currently in England, I must say that the best job in the world is at PCB, that is why people request and struggle a lot to acquire this.

The passion of spectators was admirable during the match but unfortunately Pakistan was on the wrong side of the result and as I was leaving the stadium I overheard one fan saying that: “I wish it had rained today”.
