South African opener Janneman Malan, who was picked by the Pakistan Super League (PSL) franchise Islamabad United during yesterday’s replacement draft, is excited to play in the event especially after learning what ‘janneman’ means in Urdu.

Jaan-e-Mann is an Urdu language word for ‘sweetheart’ and is similar to Malan’s first name.

Excited to join @IsbUnited Heard so many great things about the franchise. I just found out what Janneman means in urdu. I wish to be janneman to all Pakistanis with my performances in the PSL. #UnitedWeWin

Malan, who will be playing for the first time in the PSL, has featured in four One-day Internationals (ODIs) and nine Twenty20 Internationals for South Africa over the course of his brief career.

The PSL 6 was postponed after 14 matches on March 4 this year. The remaining 20 matches of the sixth edition of one of the most sought after T20 leagues in the world will be played at Karachi’s National Stadium from June 1-20.
