Renowned fast bowling Ian Pont has pointed out a serious technical issue in the bowling style of Pakistan's Mohammad Hasnain.

The 60-year-old, in a series of tweets, opined that the flaw can only be corrected by the technical bowling coaches.

Hasnain was all over the internet yesterday for his bowling performance at the Big Bash League (BBL). He bowled a dream maiden over with three wickets while playing for Sydney Thunder against Adelaide Strikers.

However, Ian was concerned over Hasnain's flaw as he can suffer from some serious injuries.

"I pointed out his front foot splay and bent leg more than two years back and it still hasn't been rectified for the lad. Unless there are coaches who can identify this stuff and correct it, bowlers will have injuries to plague them and it happens because his feet 'cross' over (front foot across the back foot) and his feet try to subconsciously re-adjust this alignment by pointing towards cover," Pont identified.

"My worry is if such things are going uncorrected since he started. The stresses on joints are high in the lower lumbar, knee and ankle. Great talent like this needs to be protected and improved. But only technical bowling coaches will be able to do this," he added.

While replying to a user, he added one should bowl in a similar manner of running.

It must be noted that Hasnain has been playing for Pakistan since 2019. He was playing under the mentorship of former bowling coach Waqar Younis since the Sri Lanka home series in 2019.
