India’s star batter Shubman Gill has been named the ICC Men’s Player of the Month for February 2025. He won the award ahead of Australia’s Steve Smith and New Zealand’s Glenn Phillips.
Gill had an outstanding month, scoring 406 runs in five one-day internationals. He averaged 101.50 and had a strike rate of 94.19.
He played a key role in India’s 3-0 series win over England, scoring over fifty in all three matches. He started with 87 runs in Nagpur, followed by 60 in Cuttack. In the final match in Ahmedabad, he smashed a brilliant 112 off 102 balls, hitting 14 fours and three sixes. His performance earned him the Player of the Match award, and he was also named Player of the Series.
Gill carried his good form into the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. In India’s first match against Bangladesh in Dubai, he scored an unbeaten 101 to guide his team to victory. He followed it up with a solid 46 against Pakistan, helping India win both games.
This is the third time Gill has won the ICC Men’s Player of the Month award. He previously won in January and September 2023. He was also part of the Indian team that lifted the Champions Trophy last week.
