Australia’s Annabel Sutherland has been named the ICC Women’s Player of the Month for December 2024 after her exceptional all-round performances helped her team stay unbeaten in five One Day International (ODI) matches.
Sutherland played a crucial role in Australia’s victories over India and New Zealand. She was awarded Player of the Match three times and earned the Player of the Series title for both series, highlighting her outstanding contributions.
The 23-year-old all-rounder scored 269 runs in December, with two remarkable centuries. She made 110 runs against India in Perth and followed that up with an unbeaten 105 runs against New Zealand in Wellington. Her batting average stood at 67.25, with a strike rate of 113.98, showcasing her ability to score quickly and consistently.
In addition to her batting, Sutherland also excelled with the ball, taking nine wickets in the month at an impressive economy rate of 3.85. Her best bowling performance came in the second ODI against India, where she claimed 4 wickets for 39 runs, helping Australia secure a dominant win.
Sutherland’s brilliant performances helped Australia complete a 3-0 whitewash against India and win the series against New Zealand, maintaining their unbeaten streak throughout December.
She beat out strong competition from Smriti Mandhana and Nonkululeko Mlaba to take home the ICC Women’s Player of the Month award for December 2024.
