The International Cricket Council (ICC) has unveiled the nominees for the Women’s Player of the Month for May 2025, featuring standout performers from West Indies, South Africa, and India. These three stars delivered exceptional all-round displays and key contributions in white-ball matches throughout the month.
West Indies captain Hayley Matthews continued her excellent run of form during the white-ball tour of England. After her impressive showing in the ICC Women’s World Cup Qualifier, she carried her momentum into the three-match T20I series.
The dynamic all-rounder finished as the top scorer in the series, making 177 runs at a strike rate of 137.20, with an average of 88.50. She also took three wickets and was deservedly named Player of the Series. In the opening ODI against England, Matthews once again made her mark by scoring 48 runs and picking up two wickets in a strong all-round effort.
South African all-rounder Chloe Tryon played a key role for her team in the ODI tri-series against India and Sri Lanka. She scored 176 runs across three matches, averaging 58.66, and took six wickets with an economy rate of just 5.
Tryon’s standout performance came in South Africa’s final match of the series against Sri Lanka. She struck 74 runs to help her side post a massive total of over 300. With the ball, she delivered a career-best performance, taking her first-ever five-wicket haul in ODIs, finishing with brilliant figures of 5/34.
India’s Jemimah Rodrigues impressed with her consistent and elegant batting during the tri-series in Sri Lanka. She scored 204 runs in the final three games, including the title clash against the hosts, helping India clinch the trophy ahead of the upcoming Women’s Cricket World Cup.
Rodrigues was especially impactful against South Africa, where she scored her second ODI century—an excellent 123 off 101 balls, hitting 15 fours and a six. In the final, she added a vital 44-run knock that played a big part in India’s 97-run victory.
