The International Cricket Council (ICC) and Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) have dismissed reports claiming Pakistan might play their 2023 World Cup matches in Bangladesh.

The General Manager of Cricket for the International Cricket Council (ICC), Wasim Khan, had said that Pakistan might end up playing their 2023 World Cup matches at a neutral venue instead of India.

“I don’t think that Pakistan will play their World Cup matches in India. I think their matches will also be held at a neutral venue just like India’s Asia Cup matches,” Wasim said.

However, according to a report by Cricbuzz, ICC distanced itself from its General Manager’s statement.

"Bangladesh was not discussed at all at the Board meeting and full backing for the event [World Cup] in India was given by the Board. We're focused on that," an ICC official told Cricbuzz on Wednesday.

BCB chief executive, Nizamuddin, also said that he is not privy to any development regarding them hosting Pakistan’s World Cup matches.

Meanwhile, a top BCCI official wasn’t amused with Wasim Khan’s statement.

"Wasim Khan has no business talking about the neutral venue, he should stop behaving like a PCB CEO," said a top BCCI official.

Meanwhile, Delhi or Chennai are expected to host the India-Pakistan game in World Cup, whereas Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad is most likely to host the final.
