An ICC delegation visited the National Stadium in Karachi to assess preparations for the ICC Men’s Champions Trophy 2025, set to be hosted by Pakistan.

The team, led by ICC Event Manager Aun Zaidi, included representatives from broadcasting, marketing, and other key departments. They inspected the ongoing construction of a new building at the stadium and evaluated the progress of upgrades to ensure the venue meets international standards.

PCB officials, including National Stadium General Manager Arshad Khan and Director of International Cricket Usman Wahla, accompanied the delegation during the 30-minute inspection. A detailed briefing was provided on the stadium’s development and preparations for the prestigious event.

Following the Karachi visit, the ICC team will head to Lahore to continue their assessment of preparations for the tournament.

The Champions Trophy 2025 will be held in Pakistan and at a neutral venue, as confirmed by the ICC. This arrangement is part of a broader plan to address logistical and security concerns for matches between India and Pakistan during the 2024-2027 ICC events cycle.

The "fusion formula," introduced for these events, ensures that matches between India and Pakistan, including knockout games, will take place at neutral venues if both teams qualify. This formula will also apply to the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025 and the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026.

In addition to the Champions Trophy, Pakistan has been awarded hosting rights for the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup in 2028. Sources suggest that this arrangement compensates Pakistan for financial losses caused by India’s decision not to play Champions Trophy matches in Pakistan.

Preparations are in full swing, and the PCB is committed to delivering a successful tournament that meets international expectations.
