ICC Men's Player of the Month nominees for February 2025 announced

The ICC has announced the nominees for the Men’s Player of the Month for February 2025, with three outstanding batters making the list for their exceptional performances throughout the month.

The experienced Australian batter Steve Smith is one of the nominees, having delivered solid performances in both Test and One-Day formats. During the Test series against Sri Lanka, Smith scored 141 and 131 in the two matches, maintaining a remarkable strike rate of 136.00. His performances earned him the Player of the Series award.

In the one-day series, Smith scored 12 and 29. As he entered the ICC Champions Trophy, which was his final international tournament in the format, he contributed with scores of five against England and 19 not out against Afghanistan.

Indian opening batter Shubman Gill is another nominee, having had an incredible run in the one-day format during February. In five matches, he accumulated 406 runs at an average of 101.50 and a strike rate of 94.19. His impressive series against England included scores of 87 in Nagpur, 60 in Cuttack, and 112 in Ahmedabad, helping India to a 3-0 victory and earning him Player of the Series honors.

Gill carried this form into the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, beginning with an unbeaten 101 against Bangladesh, followed by a valuable 46 against Pakistan.

New Zealand’s Glenn Phillips has been another standout performer, especially in the field and with the bat. He scored 236 runs in five one-day internationals at a strike rate of 124.21, with three unbeaten innings to his name. His key contributions helped New Zealand win the tri-series in Pakistan, including a superb 106 against Pakistan in Lahore, and vital knocks of 28 and 20 against South Africa and Pakistan in the final, respectively.

Phillips continued his good form in the Champions Trophy, starting with a crucial 61 against Pakistan in Karachi, followed by an unbeaten 21 against Bangladesh in Rawalpindi.
