ICC Men's Player of the Month nominees for June 2024 announced

Three exceptional cricketers have been nominated for the ICC Men’s Player of the Month award for June 2024. This includes two ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 winning squad members and a rising star from Afghanistan.

Rahmanullah Gurbaz, Afghanistan's opening batsman, played a crucial role in his team's historic journey to the semi-finals of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024. Gurbaz amassed 281 runs, the highest by any batsman in the tournament, marking a first for an Afghan player. 

His impressive strike rate of 124.33 and average of 35.12, coupled with key partnerships with Ibrahim Zadran, provided solid starts that led Afghanistan to competitive totals throughout the tournament. Notable innings include his 80 against New Zealand and 60 against Australia, both pivotal in securing historic wins.

Rohit Sharma's leadership and batting prowess were instrumental in guiding India to their first ICC trophy in 11 years. The Indian opener was the tournament's second-highest run-scorer, accumulating 257 runs with an average of 36.71 and a striking rate of 156.7. 

His remarkable innings of 92 off 41 balls against Australia and 57 from 39 against England in the semi-final showcased his ability to perform under pressure. Sharma's inspiring leadership was further evident in India's narrow seven-run victory over South Africa in the tournament final.

Jasprit Bumrah's exceptional bowling was pivotal in India's triumphant T20 World Cup campaign. Frequently called upon by skipper Rohit Sharma in crucial moments, Bumrah delivered consistently, whether against Pakistan in the group stage or in the final against South Africa. 

Across eight matches, Bumrah claimed 15 wickets at an astounding average of 8.26 and an economy rate of 4.17. His performances earned him the Player of the Tournament award and were instrumental in India's overall success.

These three players have showcased outstanding skill and determination, making them deserving contenders for the ICC Men’s Player of the Month award for June 2024.
